Synchronised lighting and advertising at Dubai Airport

Digital screens in airports already attract attention but what if they could be enhanced by intelligent lighting? This was the goal at Dubai International Airport – to create an immersive experience for passengers passing through Terminal 3.

For the wave-like feature in the ceiling, we supplied RGB LED linear lights connected to DMX controllers. These controllers synchronized the lighting sequence with the advertising on the digital displays. Specialist software monitored the digital signal and matched brand colours to the media.

In addition to this, the marble pillars also required synchronised illumination. This presented a unique set of challenges. Our engineering team produced drawings, prototypes, and conducted a series of tests to understand the optimum position of the LED’s, adjusting the positioning with each iteration. The end result was controlled lighting down the pillars whilst adhering to the strict safety standards of the airport.
