The Brief
The client, a London based investment company, wanted to reduce the energy consumption of their large foyer sign and also improve the quality of the illumination currently achieved with fluorescent tubes. The front of the 6m by 1.5m sign is protected with large glass panels which are difficult and potentially hazardous to remove when a failed tube has to be replaced.
Bright Green Technology’s Approach
Our solution was to retro fit the existing sign box with Bright Green Matrix TM .
The retro fit installation was simple and straight forward to achieve taking only a matter of hours to complete. All the existing fluorescent tubes and gear trays were removed from the sign and then the Bright Green Matrix TM ‘sticks’ were screw fixed into position. Simple push fit connectors were used to connect the ‘sticks’ to the low voltage power cables which in turn were connected to the power supplies.
The Result
The energy consumption of the reception sign has been reduced by over 70% by simply replacing the forty five 38W fluorescent tubes with the equivalent number of 10W Bright Green Matrix ‘sticks’. The client’s energy bill will reduce by more than £600 over the next 12 months with an annual carbon saving of 3 Tonnes.
In addition the quality of the illumination has improved and maintenance virtually eliminated.
